Military Nursing Service celebrates International Nurses Day, 2024

On May 11, 2024, International Nurses Day was joyfully celebrated at the Ayurvigyan Auditorium in Army Hospital (R&R). Maj Gen Kanwarjit Singh, Offg Commandant of the hospital, graced the event as the Chief Guest while Maj Gen Sheena P D, the Principal Matron, warmly welcomed everyone in attendance.

This global day of recognition is observed annually on Florence Nightingale's birthday to honor the invaluable contributions made by nurses to our society. The International Council of Nurses had chosen 'Our Nurses Our Future, The Economic Power of Care' as the theme for this year, which was unveiled by Maj Gen I D Flora, Addl DGMNS.

As part of the celebration, a debate on 'Artificial Intelligence in Nursing: Boon or a Bane' and a panel discussion on the theme were organized. The distinguished panelists engaged in thought-provoking discussions on various topics such as the challenges faced by nurses, strategies to empower them, their leadership roles, nursing education, digitalization in healthcare, and preventing nurse burnout.

The Chief Guest honored the panelists and presented Appreciation certificates to the deserving Nursing Officers. Capt Deepa Shajan was recognized with the prestigious Pushpnaranjan Award. In his address to the audience, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of upholding professional standards and values set by Military Nursing Officers. He commended the MNS Officers for their dedicated service, working tirelessly to care for patients with boundless compassion and empathy.
