New Delhi, October 5th, 2024 — In an emotional and thought-provoking showcase, the play Vyatha Kahe Panchali, written by the renowned Dr. Urvashi Agarwal Urvi , Dramatic Adaptation,Design & Direction by acclaimed theatre activist Kajal Suri, was brought to life by the talented ensemble of Robroo Theatre. Staged yesterday at 6 p.m. in the packed LTG auditorium, the play left a profound impact on the audience, presenting a fresh, poignant take on the iconic tale of Draupadi's anguish from the Mahabharata.
Though the Mahabharata’s epic saga is familiar to most, this production offered a unique and powerful portrayal of Draupadi's inner turmoil, agony, and dignity amidst the turmoil of war and betrayal. The depiction of her plight, interwoven with themes of honour, vengeance, and destiny, struck an emotional chord, allowing the audience to empathise deeply with her suffering.
The captivating dances choreographed by Neeraj Tiwari and the design and direction of the play by Kajal Suri added an ethereal grace to the performance, enhancing the depth of the narrative. . From Draupadi’s pain to Duryodhan’s deceit, the Pandavas’ helplessness, Gandhari’s curse, Kunti’s remorse, and Dhritarashtra’s sorrow, each emotion was brought to life in vivid detail. The audience was deeply moved by the portrayal of Abhimanyu’s tragic demise, an event that reverberated through the hall with sombre intensity.
Every detail, from the meticulously designed costumes to the evocative lighting, was executed with precision, elevating the visual appeal of the production.
The production was a seamless collaboration of talent, with the makeup artist Rashid Bhai adding the perfect finishing touches, Sunil chauhan crafting mesmerising lighting effects, and the musical compositions of Abhishek and Ishani creating an evocative atmosphere. Sukhnandan Bindra skillfully managed the stage, ensuring the performance flowed smoothly, while Priyanka, Dinu, Akash, and Rahul provided essential backstage support.
Rohit Marohotiya skillful coordinated and managed the production of the Play as a Production Coordinator .
The ensemble cast, featuring stellar performances by Varsha, Jaskiran Chopra, Dr. Urvashi herself, Dharam Gupta, Shubham Sharma, and others, delivered their roles with remarkable authenticity
The cast also featured Neeraj Tiwari, Apoorv, Sandeep, Mantra, Adita, Krish, Tanisha, Sparsh,Geeta,Tarun, Sujata, Praveen, Vaibhav, Harshit, Kashish, Satyam, and the charming child artist, Mayra, all of whom delivered impeccable performances that brought the mythological characters to life in a deeply relatable and human manner.
Vyatha Kahe Panchali stands as an attestation to the enduring relevance of the Mahabharata’s characters and themes, offering a fresh perspective on one of the epic's most compelling figures. The play was a visual and emotional spectacle that left a lasting impression on all in attendance.
