DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION HELD A REVIEW MEETING WITH HEADMASTERS IN MORIGAON

In the meeting, District Commissioner Devashish Sharma reviewed how to improve the declining results of the district in the presence of more than a hundred Headmasters of 120 Government Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools in Morigaon district.The District Commissioner enquired about their strategies from the Headmasters of Schools who have shown good results amidst various challenges in the meeting and questioned the School Heads who have shown poor results about the reasons behind it. The meeting discussed how to improve the results in Schools where the pass percentage in schools has dropped to zero. The District Commissioner said that the lack of adequate teachers is the main problem for almost every School, but it is indeed commendable that many schools have performed well despite the challenges. He warned the teachers, who were involved in various social causes and turned their backs on teaching, to perform their duties properly. He also called upon the school Heads who have shown bad results to take all the responsibility of failure and strategise for how to improve the results of Schools in the future through self-analysis. He is reluctant to file a complaint with the Inspector of Schools with evidence against the teacher who is absent from the school and has insulted the Headmaster.He directed the Headmasters to discuss ways to improve the quality of the School by conducting regular practice and regular reviews with teacher parents. He said that from now on, the District Administration officials will visit the school suddenly. In the meeting, Additional District Commissioner (Education) Nitisha Bora made it clear that no teacher should come to the office of the Inspector of Schools or to the office of the District Commissioner during the School. He directed none of the teachers to take home tuitions and conduct a centre-wise review and visit the Schools abruptly. In the meeting, Inspector Of Schools Apurba Thakuria conducted the examination every month in the discussion held in the meeting and identified the weak students and directed them to take classes of such students even on the holidays if needed. It is also to hold review meetings every month with the Presidents of the School Management and Development Committees, door-to-door visits of students, inform the students about the changed examination pattern, increase the capacity of teachers.He directed to engage the retired teachers, ensure that the students pass on the strength of merit and not by resorting to unfair means. He appealed to all to move forward with the party mentality. He said the classes should continue till a week before the HSLC Examination . At the meeting, Senior Journalist Pratap Hazarika stressed on the need to conduct group exams on a regular basis as before. He also urged the District Administration to take steps to visit the School regularly. It may be recalled that in Morigaon district, in the academic year 2024-25, 13,974 students appeared for the high school examination and 7,183 of them passed. The pass percentage in the district is 51.40 per cent.
