Political Tensions Escalate in Tripura: Clashes Erupt Between BJP and TIPRA Motha in Asharambari

In a fresh turn of political unrest in Tripura, tensions have intensified between the ruling BJP and its ally, TIPRA Motha. A violent incident on Sunday during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast has further strained relations between the two parties.

The flashpoint was the Asharambari area, located within the constituency of TIPRA Motha leader and state minister Animesh Debbarma. Allegedly, a group of TIPRA Motha supporters launched a sudden and violent attack during the PM's radio address. The incident is being termed as a pre-planned assault by BJP leaders.

Several BJP workers were reportedly injured, and their vehicles—both motorbikes and cars—were vandalized. The situation escalated quickly, resulting in arson and severe unrest in the locality.

BJP leaders have strongly condemned the attack, calling it a direct assault on democracy and the state’s peaceful political environment. So far, no official statement has been released by TIPRA Motha regarding the incident.

The violence marks a significant setback in the already fragile alliance between the two political partners and raises serious concerns over law and order ahead of upcoming political events in the region.
