Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation and Kalidhar Forest Range Organize Mega Plantation Drive at Akhnoor

In a commendable initiative to promote ecological conservation and community participation, the Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation (SGWF), in collaboration with the Kalidhar Forest Range of Jammu Forest Division, successfully conducted a Mega Plantation Drive on the road divider stretch from Kameshwar Temple to the Old Steel Bridge, Akhnoor, on 5th August 2025.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout and was graced by prominent leaders including Sh. Sat Sharma, noted political figure; Dr. Mohan Lal Bhagat, Hon’ble MLA Akhnoor; and Sh. Kuldeep Sharma, senior community leader. The plantation drive was formally inaugurated by these dignitaries, who collectively planted saplings to mark the beginning of this impactful green initiative.
While addressing the gathering, Sh. Sat Sharma lauded the efforts of Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation and emphasized the importance of tree plantation in mitigating climate change and improving environmental health. He appreciated SGWF’s theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”—a campaign encouraging people to plant a tree in honor of their mothers—and called upon every citizen to participate in such noble acts of environmental service.
“Planting a tree is not only an environmental necessity but a moral responsibility toward our future generations,” he said. He further encouraged SGWF to broaden its horizon and take up additional social causes that affect the general populace, from health and hygiene to youth awareness programs.
Dr. Mohan Lal Bhagat, MLA Akhnoor, extended his full support to the Foundation and assured all possible help in addressing various pressing issues of society. He acknowledged SGWF’s consistent efforts in the field of environmental conservation and community upliftment.
Sh. Vijay Khosla, Range Officer, Kalidhar Forest Range, played a pivotal role in the success of the drive through his proactive initiative and hands-on leadership. He not only facilitated the logistics for the plantation drive but also directed his frontline staff to ensure the survival and maintenance of each sapling planted, thereby reaffirming the forest department’s long-term commitment to afforestation and ecological restoration.
Dr. Sonia Verma, Director/CEO of SGWF, welcomed and thanked the dignitaries for taking time out of their busy schedules to support this green cause. She presented a detailed overview of the Foundation's vision, ongoing activities, and future roadmap, highlighting SGWF’s mission to foster sustainable development through environmental awareness, youth engagement, and grassroots participation.
In her address, Dr. Verma reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to continue such campaigns at a larger scale and urged local residents, educational institutions, and civil society groups to join hands in safeguarding the green heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
The plantation drive witnessed the active participation of volunteers, local citizens, youth groups, forest officials, and environmental enthusiasts, collectively planting hundreds of saplings of indigenous species along the designated stretch. The event concluded with a pledge ceremony, where all present committed to nurturing the saplings and supporting the environment.
