At the call of Abhaya Mancha, the slogan rose — “March to Kalighat.”
The plan was to gather at Hazra More and march towards Kalighat.
But gripped by fear, panic, and blinded by the lust for power, this ruling clique today erected iron barricades and towering metal walls on every road to Kalighat — as if Kalighat had been severed from the heart of West Bengal!
But iron walls cannot chain the will of the people.
So today, the fire of protest blazed at Hazra More — that very Hazra More long known as the ruling party’s most impregnable stronghold. Today, thousands of protestors brought that fortress to a standstill.
Today, the first slogans of downfall were raised loud:
“Pull the rope, give it a jerk,
The Queen shall shatter to pieces!”
“Tilotama will have justice—
If not, this movement will go on,
It will not stop, it will not break.”
