Horticulture Department has distributed improved varieties of fruit plants free of cost

Malda District Horticulture Department has distributed improved varieties of fruit plants free of cost. The state government has set a target of distributing five lakh twenty one thousand different fruit plants and 300 kg of Kharif season onion seeds in the entire district. As a part of this, program was organized in the State Farm area on Tuesday afternoon by the concerned department. The departmental officers handed over various fruit seedlings to the people present at the program. Mainly mango, (Amrapali, Langra, Himsagar), Litchi (Bombay), Tissue Culture Banana (Grand Naini), Papaya (Ranchi), guava (Baruipur), Coconut (ECT), Lemon (Kagji), Jackfruit (Baromasi), Safeda (Cricket Ball), Boroi (BAU), Avocado (Hass) and Kharif season onion seeds were distributed free of cost. District Horticulture Officer Samanta Layek said that all these saplings have been distributed free of cost to individuals, various agricultural clubs, various agricultural organizations, self-help groups, and various schools. Various officials of the District Horticulture Department and President of Malda Mango Merchants Association Ujjwal Saha and others were present.
