SC Fines BSNL ₹1Lakh for 'frivolous' petition, Orders payment to Applicant

The Supreme Court has fined Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (#BSNL) Rs 1 lakh for filing a “totally frivolous” petition challenging a Madhya Pradesh High Court ruling.

The petition involved a man, Pavan Thakur, seeking a compassionate appointment after the deaths of his parents, both BSNL employees.

The Court, led by Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and S.V.N. Bhatti, expressed strong disapproval and directed BSNL to pay the Rs 1 lakh directly to Thakur within two weeks.
