The Swadhinata Sangrami Memorial Trust, Kaniha, celebrated the 88th Prajamandal Diwas on 6th September 2025. This day commemorates the historic movement of 1936, when the people of Talcher courageously fought against British colonial rule and feudal oppression to achieve justice, equality, and freedom. The event served as an opportunity to bring together the residents of Kaniha to honor the establishment of the nation and the legacy of those who sacrificed their lives for it.

The chief guest of the ceremony was Honorable Shri Rabi Narayan Naik, Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Drinking Water, Government of Odisha. Other distinguished guests included Shri Brajakishore Pradhan, MLA (Talcher); Shri Ashok Mohanty, MLA (Pallahara); Shri Agasti Behera, MLA (Chhendipada); Shri Abdaal M. Akhtar, IAS (DM & Collector), Angul; Shri S.K. Jena (IAS – SDM), Talcher; Shri K. Narasimha Reddy, Executive Director of NTPC Talcher Kaniha; and Chief Speaker Dr. Dharanidhar Nath. Their presence highlighted the significance of the occasion and reflected the commitment of government and corporate entities toward social welfare.

On this occasion, veteran freedom fighter Shri Banshidhar Pradhan was honored, and other freedom fighters and their families were felicitated for their immense contributions. Additionally, Prajamandal organized various competitions for students, and the winners were awarded prizes during the event.

Shri K. Narasimha Reddy, ED (TK), in his address, stated that NTPC Talcher Kaniha’s participation in the Prajamandal Diwas event is a humble effort to keep alive the values of courage, unity, and patriotism demonstrated by the freedom fighters from the localities. NTPC Talcher Kaniha reiterated its commitment to the development of the region. He also emphasized that NTPC Kaniha’s role is not limited to energy production alone. The organization remains committed to supporting meaningful initiatives in education, skill development, health, and social welfare to promote sustainable development in the community.
