‎Political Responsibilities
‎Elected as a member of the Lok Sabha from Coimbatore for two terms in 1998 & 1999.
‎Served as the State President of the Tamil Nadu BJP (2003–2006).
‎He served as the Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana in 2023–2024 and as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry between April and July.
‎He served as the Governor of Maharashtra from July 2024 to September 2025.
‎Vice-Presidential Election 2025
‎He contested the Vice-Presidential post on behalf of the NDA against his colleague Phani Rao (B. Sudarshan Reddy) and won by 452 votes.
‎Through this election, he became the 15th Vice-President of India.
‎If elected to this post, he will naturally take up the responsibility of the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
