HEAVY FLOOD ! ONE BODY REMAIN UNTRACED !

Heavy flooding has hit Khetri Awang Leikai in Imphal East, Manipur, sweeping away homes and livelihoods. The flash floods, triggered by torrential rains, have inundated over 5,000 houses and destroyed farmlands in Imphal East and Thoubal districts

A 70-year-old man, Md. Ramzan Ali, a prominent football player and AMFA-certified referee, was drowned while performing his evening prayers at the riverbank. His body remains untraced, and his family is seeking help in locating him.
The floods have caused widespread disruption, with several key roads cut off due to landslides in Senapati district. The Iril and Thoubal rivers have breached their embankments, submerging villages and sweeping away a bridge in Yairipok
The Manipur government has ordered the closure of all educational institutions across the state due to the prevailing weather conditions. Relief camps have been set up, but many families are struggling to cope with the disaster.

The situation remains dire, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting more rainfall over the next two days. Authorities have warned residents to exercise extreme caution and stay alert for further breaches of river banks and overflow of water into surrounding areas.
