Woman Dies After Childbirth at RIMS Hospital in Imphal Manipur, Relatives Stage Protest
Imphal, September.21:
A tragic incident has shaken RIMS Hospital in Imphal Manipur today after 35-year-old Chingshubam Manju of Lilong Chajing passed away following a surgical delivery. Manju had successfully given birth to a baby girl, but her condition reportedly worsened shortly after the operation. Despite efforts, she could not be saved, leaving her family and community in deep sorrow.
Soon after the news of her demise spread, relatives and local residents gathered at the hospital premises, expressing strong resentment against what they alleged to be medical negligence. Protesters demanded immediate accountability from the hospital authorities and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to her untimely death.
The tense atmosphere escalated when the hospital authorities reportedly failed to provide a clear response to the grieving family. In frustration, family members and supporters raised slogans and staged demonstrations within the hospital campus. Security personnel were deployed to prevent further escalation, but the situation remained highly charged as emotions ran high.
Community members have urged the government and concerned health authorities to intervene and ensure justice for the deceased mother. They stressed that incidents of alleged negligence must not be ignored, especially in a premier medical institution like RIMS, which serves as a lifeline for patients across the state.
As of now, RIMS officials have not issued any official statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, public outrage continues to grow, with many questioning the quality of healthcare services and demanding stricter accountability measures in hospitals across Manipur.
