Hyderabad, Sept 25: The Telangana Junior Advocates Association (TJAA) on Thursday staged a massive protest at Dharna Chowk, demanding immediate government action on a series of measures aimed at ensuring the welfare, dignity, and security of young lawyers across the state.
Led by TJAA association president Advocate Jakkula Vamsi Krishna, the protest drew hundreds of advocates, including Society for Civil Legal Aid Chairman Advocate Mir Qurram Ali, President Advocate Vassa Madhu Suhan, Sohail, Samdani, and several others. The demonstration also received strong backing from elected representatives, with MLAs, MLCs, and MPs extending solidarity to the agitating advocates.
The TJAA’s charter of demands included:
Establishment of a dedicated Advocates Colony
Immediate implementation of the Advocate Protection Act
Monthly stipend for junior advocates
Inclusion of parents in the health card scheme
Amendment to Section 41A CrPC
Enhancement of insurance cover from ₹2 lakhs to ₹10 lakhs
Addressing the gathering, association leaders stressed that these reforms were not only justified but necessary to safeguard the livelihood and safety of lawyers, particularly junior advocates who form the backbone of the legal profession.
Declaring that the agitation will continue until the state government responds positively, the TJAA vowed to intensify its struggle if the demands remain unaddressed.
