Huge Cache of Arrows Seized in Semiliguda Police Raid; Businessman Arrested

A major breakthrough was achieved by Semiliguda police when a large cache of arrows was seized during a raid in Shanti Nagar, raising concerns over illegal stockpiling of traditional weapons in the area.

Semiliguda Police acted on credible intelligence inputs regarding the unlawful storage of arrows within the town. Acting promptly, Sunabeda Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sumitra Jena directed a special operation, which was executed by Semiliguda Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Anita Khujur along with her team.

During the raid, a significant quantity of arrows was recovered from the premises, and a local businessman identified as Satya Narayan Patra was taken into custody. Officials confirmed that the accused was allegedly engaged in illegal stockpiling, though the exact purpose and potential buyers are still under investigation.

SDPO Jena stated, “Acting on reliable information, our team conducted a successful raid and recovered a large quantity of arrows. One individual has been arrested in this connection. Further investigation is on to trace the supply chain and determine whether there are larger networks involved.”

The seizure has sparked public curiosity and some concern, as the possession of such activities in large numbers could indicate potential misuse. Police have assured that strict action will be taken against anyone found to be involved in unlawful activities.

Authorities are now examining whether the stockpile was intended for commercial sale, cultural practices, or other purposes. Meanwhile, the accused remains in custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated.

The raid highlights the proactive stance of Koraput police in curbing illegal activities and ensuring public safety, particularly in sensitive pockets of the district.
