Malda Division RPF Assists in Onboard Childbirth under Operation Sewa

In a remarkable display of prompt action and coordination under Operation Sewa, personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Malda Town, assisted a lady passenger in delivering a healthy baby on board Train No. 15734 Farakka Express upon its arrival at Malda Town Railway Station at 10:27 hrs. On Monday (29.09.2025).

On arrival, the on-duty RPF staff was approached by a male passenger seeking urgent assistance as his wife was in labor. The situation was immediately communicated to the on-duty officers of RPF/Post, Malda Town, who quickly coordinated with the Station Master and the Divisional Railway Hospital, Malda medical team.

RPF officers, along with the hospital staff, rushed to the coach and provided necessary medical support. With their timely intervention and coordination under Operation Sewa, the lady safely delivered a baby within the train coach at Malda Town Station.Subsequently, both mother and newborn were safely shifted to Malda Medical College & Hospital under RPF escort for further medical care. The on-duty medical team confirmed that both mother and child are in stable condition.

The swift response and humanitarian assistance extended by the RPF personnel at Malda Town under Operation Sewa were highly appreciated by the passenger and his family, reflecting Eastern Railway’s commitment to passenger safety and well-being.
