
Recreational sports begin at the Thimmakka Botanical Garden
Minister H.K. Patil launches adventure sports
Gadag (Karnataka News) November 4: District in-charge Minister Dr. H.K. Patil said that visitors to the Saalu Marad Thimmakka Botanical Garden, located near the city's Binkadakatti Zoo, can now enjoy adventure sports and entertainment.
On Monday, Minister H.K. Patil inaugurated the pickle ball field, archery stadium, butterfly park and adventure sports stadium at the Thimmakka Botanical Garden in collaboration with the Gadag Forest Regional Division and the Gadag Forest Regional Zone.
The Thimmakka Botanical Garden in Saalu Marad is a tourist destination. Many school children visit for a day's picnic. Now, in addition to viewing the botanical garden, the government has provided facilities for children to get complete entertainment through pickle ball, archery at the archery stadium, butterfly watching at the butterfly park, and adventure activities. He said that the children and the public who come here can take advantage of them.
Several recreational activities have already been provided at the Thimmakka Botanical Garden in Saalu Maradu. The botanical garden has been developed to provide a treat for adventure lovers through a zipline and a memorial for forest martyrs has also been beautifully constructed. All these will provide a treat to the tourists who come, he said.
The district has ample opportunities for tourism and efforts are being made to develop them and attract tourists by utilizing them properly. The district is historically, literaryly and naturally rich and there is hope that the public will visit in large numbers, said Dr. H.K. Patil, Minister for Law, Justice, Human Rights, Parliamentary Affairs, Legislation and Tourism of the state and Minister in-charge of Gadag District.
On this occasion, Gadag Betageri Urban Development Authority Chairman Akbarsabha Babarji, District Level Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority Chairman B.B. Asuti, Taluka Chairman Ashok Mandali, Siddu Patil, Deputy Commissioner C.N. Sridhar, District Superintendent of Police Rohan Jagadish, Deputy Conservator of Forests Santosh K, Binkadakatti Gram Panchayat Chairman Ningappa Parappanavara, Vice Chairman Dyammavva Aratti, Forest Department officials Mahantesh Police Patil, Veerendra Maribasannavara, along with seniors, dignitaries and others were present.
