Malda Railway Division Organized song in on the occasion of 150 years of “Vande Mataram”

Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the year-long celebrations on the occasion of 150 years of the country’s national song “Vande Mataram” on 7 November 2025, at around 9:30 am from the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

"Vande Mataram” was composed by poet Bankim Chandra Chatterjee on 7 November 1875. It was first published as a part of his novel Anandamath in the literary magazine Bangadarshan, and later published as a separate book in 1882. This song played an important role in the freedom movement and on 24 January 1950, it gained equal status with the national anthem “Jana Gana Mana”. Even today, it inspires as a symbol of unity, patriotism and cultural pride of the country.

In Malda Division of Eastern Railway, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shri Manish Kumar Gupta participated in the assembly song program organized at Malda Town Railway Station. The program saw enthusiastic participation of senior divisional officers, railway employees, doctors and nurses of Malda Railway Hospital, Bharat Scouts and Guides (Malda District), NCC cadets and passengers.

The program was celebrated as the formal start of the year-long national celebrations that will continue from 7th November 2025 to 7th November 2026. Around 200 participants filled the station premises with patriotism.

The same program was celebrated at several stations including New Farakka, Jangipur Road, Sahebganj, Bhagalpur, Kahalgaon, Jamalpur. Station Supervisor, Station Master, employees of various departments and cleaning staff actively participated. Also, the program was celebrated at Jamalpur Diesel Shed and Sahebganj DEMU Shed under the leadership of Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Diesel), Jamalpur and Assistant Mechanical Engineer, Sahebganj respectively. Officers, Scouts and Guides and employees paid tribute to the national anthem and reiterated their commitment to protect the cultural heritage of the country.
