In this video, we will understand what benefits and drawbacks the new Labour Codes coming into effect in 2025 will bring for workers and employees. We will see how these new laws may allow employers to exploit ordinary workers/employees by making them work longer hours for less salary.

We will also examine how the new labour laws could impact unemployment and the Indian economy, and how big industrialists might use these laws to exploit common workers and employees while increasing their own profits. The government may deduct a higher percentage of PF from salaries to fill its own treasury, while offering more convenience to big corporates — which could lead to more poverty and unemployment in India.

The new labour codes will provide social security to gig and platform workers as well, but the government will also collect premiums from them.

We will further discuss how ESIC benefits will now be extended to industries where workers/employees never received insurance coverage before — but with ESIC hospitals already in poor condition, the question remains whether they can actually provide real protection.

We will understand why trade unions, labourers, workers, and employees are opposing these laws. When these laws were passed in Parliament in 2020, the opposition was not included in the discussions — similar to what happened during the farm laws. We will also try to understand the current condition of the opposition in the country.
