Kishtwar: In a commendable humanitarian initiative, the Indian Army conducted a free health camp at PS Kandwar in the Kuchhal area of Kishtwar, benefiting a large number of residents from the surrounding villages.
The camp was organized as part of the Army’s continued efforts to strengthen civil–military cooperation and ensure essential healthcare services reach remote and underserved communities of the district. A dedicated team of Army doctors, medical staff, and paramedics provided comprehensive check-ups, medical consultations, and medicines free of cost.
Residents, including women, elderly citizens, and children, turned up in large numbers to avail the medical facilities. Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for bringing quality healthcare to their doorstep, especially in a region where medical services are often difficult to access due to terrain and distance.
During the camp, awareness sessions were also conducted on preventive healthcare, hygiene, nutrition, seasonal illnesses, and first aid practices. Special attention was given to common ailments affecting rural populations, with the medical team advising villagers on long-term health management.
Local authorities and community leaders appreciated the Indian Army’s initiative, stating that such outreach programs play a vital role in improving public health and fostering trust between the forces and civilians.
The Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the people of Kishtwar through regular welfare activities, including medical camps, educational outreach, and community development programmes.
