Nagpur: Renowned neurosurgeon Dr Chandrashekar Pakhmode (53) passed away following a heart attack early on Wednesday, leaving the medical fraternity, academicians, and others in shock. An alumnus of GMCH Nagpur, Dr Pakhmode was known as a fitness enthusiast among friends and colleagues, who termed his sudden demise a major loss to the health sector. A jovial personality, he always wore a smile regardless of circumstances, they said.
Sources said Dr Pakhmode stepped out of his Ramdaspeth residence around 6am when he collapsed. His wife, Dr Manisha Pakhmode, an anaesthetist, immediately attempted resuscitation and rushed him to hospital, where he was put on ventilator support. A team of senior cardiologists was called in.
