How to Develop an FPC for Greater Farmer Benefit
We have been running our Mechanised Farmer Producer Company (FPC) since 2021 during Nowshera During this journey, we have faced multiple challenges and practical difficulties at the ground level. However, these challenges have also given us valuable learning and real experience.
One important lesson we have learned is that many schemes and policies designed at universities and large institutions often do not fully match the ground realities. In many cases, even 20% of such planning is not practically applicable in rural areas. On the other hand, when we worked directly with farmers, understood their real problems, listened to their suggestions, and implemented decisions based on their needs, we achieved much better success.
Farmers face practical issues related to input costs, marketing, transportation, storage, electricity, and access to government schemes. Solutions must be designed according to these real challenges, not only theoretical models.
Therefore, it is strongly recommended that whenever any new agricultural scheme or FPC-related policy is being designed, experienced FPC Chairpersons and progressive farmers should be included in the planning process. Their ground-level insights will help in creating realistic, practical, and implementable schemes.
If policies are prepared in consultation with active FPC leaders and experienced farmers, the benefits will reach farmers more effectively and efficiently.
