Former Minister Jayram Pangi resigns from Congress leading Dandakaranya Hill Development Council.

Former Minister Jairam Pangi has resigned from the Congress. He has sent his resignation letter to the PCC President. Jayram, who is leading the Dandakaranya Hill Development Council, said that he resigned from the Congress to work to fulfill the objectives of this organization.

In a press release issued by Mr. Pangi, I have resigned from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress party today to successfully implement the program of the Dandakaranya Hill Development Council without belonging to any political party. The resignation letter has been sent to State Congress Committee President Bhakta Charan Das, National President Mallikljun Kharge and District President.

He said that the Congress accepted me with respect and gave me an important post like the President of the Odisha State Tribal Congress. For that, I am grateful to the Congress. But I resigned at that time because I could not give time to the organization. Now, as I have formed the Dandakaranya Hill Development Council and am working to fulfill its objectives, I had to resign from the primary membership of the Congress party due to lack of time. He clarified that there is no party dispute behind the resignation.

Jayram Pangi has formed the Dandakaranya Hill Development Council for the development of tribal-dominated Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts and two districts of Andhra Pradesh, Alori Sitaramaraju and Manam. He said that the cooperation of all party leaders and workers is required for the development of all these areas.

Former minister and former Koraput MP Jayram Pangi joined the Congress in December 2023, before the 2024 general elections. Before joining the Congress, Mr. Pangi was in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Before that, he was in the BJP, BJD and Janata Dal. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly four times and to the Lok Sabha once.

In 1977, Jayram Pangi was first elected to the Legislative Assembly from Pattangi on a Janata Party ticket. In 1990, he went to the Legislative Assembly for the second time from the same seat on a Janata Party ticket. In 2000 and 2004, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly from Pattangi on a BJD ticket.

In the 2009 general election, Jayram Pangi was fielded by the BJD from the Koraput Lok Sabha seat. He won the election. In 2017, he left the BJD and joined the BJP. In the 2019 general election, he contested from the Koraput Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket and was defeated.
