Mega Blood Donation Camp at GMRIT Deemed - to - University Grand Success – 252 Units Collected

April 9: A mega blood donation camp organized at GMR Institute of Technology (GMRIT), Deemed-to-be University, was successfully conducted on Thursday. The camp was organized by the NSS Unit and Youth Red Cross Unit in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram district branches, along with the Rajam Red Cross sub-branch.
A total of 252 units of blood were donated by students and staff during the camp. Vice-Chancellor Dr. J. Girish inaugurated the program and emphasized that blood donation is a social responsibility of every individual. He stated that one unit of blood can save up to three lives and encouraged everyone to come forward to donate blood.
He further mentioned that GMRIT students regularly contribute blood to meet emergency needs in and around Rajam. He appreciated the consistent efforts of the institution in organizing such noble initiatives every year.
On this occasion, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the donors. Indian Red Cross Rajam Branch Chairman Kotta Sai Prashanth Kumar along with others, felicitated the university management and staff for promoting blood donation.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of NSS Programme Officer Dr. K.V.S. Prasad. Registrar Dr. M.V. Nageswara Rao, Controller of Examinations Dr. V. Rambabu, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, Red Cross members, NSS and Youth Red Cross volunteers actively participated in the program.
