M.R.P.D Government College Talwara Hosts Insightful Seminar on Union Budget 2026 to Enhance Students’ Economic Awareness

Talwara-Hoshiarpur, April 14 ( Arsh ) : M.R.P.D Government College, Talwara organised an informative Seminar on “Union Budget 2026” on April 9, 2026 under the aegis of the Department of Commerce and Economics.
The event was conducted under the able leadership and guidance of Principal Dr. Rajiv Khosla, who has consistently encouraged academic initiatives aimed at enhancing students’ practical understanding of contemporary issues.
The seminar aimed to familiarise students with the key provisions, policy measures, and economic implications of the Union Budget 2026.
The keynote speaker Ms. Bhavna Kaura Ohri, Associate Professor at Rayat Bahra Professional University, delivered an insightful and engaging address on important aspects of the budget, including fiscal policy, taxation reforms, public expenditure, employment generation and its likely impact on economic growth.
Through simple explanations, practical examples and interactive discussion, Ms. Ohri helped students understand how the Union Budget influences various sectors of the economy as well as the daily lives of citizens. Her Session was highly appreciated by both students and faculty members for its clarity and relevance.
Around 70 students, along with faculty members from different departments, actively participated in the Seminar. The enthusiastic response and keen involvement of students reflected the academic value of the programme.
The seminar was successfully organised with the dedicated support and efforts of Ms. Neetika Devi, Assistant Professor in Commerce, Ms. Jasmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor in Economics and Mr. Ranjit Singh, Assistant Professor in Political Science.
Faculty members from various departments along with Prof. Kuldip Chand, Prof. Gursewak Singh, Prof. Sushma Kumari etc. also graced the occasion and contributed to making the event a success.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Sakshi Jaggi, Assistant Professor in Commerce, who expressed gratitude to the keynote Speaker, Principal, faculty members and students for their valuable participation and support.
